July border crossings still historically low, but highest since January
The number of foreign nationals apprehended at U.S. borders in July was historically low but the highest since January, with 33,799 apprehensions nationwide.
The northern border had 6,594 illegal crossers apprehended in July, the greatest number this year at that border.
At the southwest border, 12,730 were apprehended in July, slightly fewer than the previous month but more than in March.
Border Patrol apprehensions between ports of entry dropped 6% in July, with enforcement policies contributing to declines not seen in over 30 years.
