Violence continues to be rampant in the country, despite the hard-line policies imposed by President Daniel Noboa
A judge from Ecuador was shot dead on Monday by men on board a motorcycle, who attacked her when she was moving in her vehicle along a road from the municipality of Machala, capital of the southern province of El Oro, bordering Peru, the police reported. The judge, identified as Lady Pachar, worked in a court in the municipality of Santa Rosa, in El Oro, near the border, and had received threats, so she had police accompaniment.
The Council of the Judiciary confirmed that Judge Lady Gissela Pachar Huanga, murdered on Monday, May 11 in Machala, had previously assigned protective measures, although these “were not operational” at the time of the attack.
Ecuadorian judge Lady Pachar was murdered in the city of Machala, on her way to a gym without her bodyguards.
A judge from Ecuador was shot to death in the midst of a state of emergency declared by the Government in its fight against organized crime, the Council of the Judiciary reported.
