Judge Warns Donald Trump His $10B BBC Lawsuit Will Be Dismissed Unless Lawyers Produce Documents
The magistrate said Trump’s case could be dismissed if his lawyers miss deadlines for documents, a privilege log and a deposition.
Magistrate Judge Enjolique A. Lett warned President Donald Trump that his $10 billion lawsuit against the BBC could be dismissed if his legal team fails to meet new November document discovery deadlines.
Trump filed the $10 billion suit in December 2025, alleging the BBC Panorama program spliced parts of his January 6, 2021, speech to falsely suggest he called for violence.
Lett stated, "the court has concerns about whether an adequate search for all responsive documentation" occurred, citing the "paucity of the production" in Trump's recent document submissions.
Overruling objections from lawyer Alejandro Brito, the judge ordered Trump to sit for a deposition by December 11 to ensure progress in discovery.
The court set November 5 and November 23 as deadlines for privilege logs and remaining documents, while the BBC continues to subpoena testimony from former special counsel Jack Smith.
