Judge Rules Fall City, WA Teen Accused of Killing Family Members Will Be Tried as an Adult
Judge Veronica Galván said the seriousness of the killings and public safety require adult sentencing, where the teen faces at least 25 years.
On Wednesday, King County Superior Court Judge Veronica Galvan ruled that the 17-year-old accused of killing five family members in Fall City will be tried as an adult.
Prosecutors charged the teen with five counts of aggravated first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder following the October 2024 killings at his family's Fall City home.
Judge Veronica Galvan weighed the eight Kent Factors during a two-week hearing, concluding six factors favored adult court due to the offense's severity and public safety concerns.
The teen now faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted in adult court, though the Defense argued for juvenile court citing psychological trauma and plans to seek a review.
Prosecutors will file the case in superior court while the teen remains under juvenile jurisdiction until final transfer orders are entered, likely in early November.
