Joint Statement: Miami-Dade County Public Schools and South Florida Public Media Group Announce Continued Partnership for WLRN
The settlement includes mutual releases, no admission of liability and a 7-year extension of SFPMG’s management of WLRN.
On Wednesday, the Miami-Dade County School Board and South Florida Public Media Group announced they have amicably resolved their litigation, ensuring WLRN continues serving the South Florida community.
Under a new Amended Management and Program Service Agreement , SFPMG will manage WLRN and WFLM for an additional seven years, establishing a fiduciary relationship between the parties.
SFPMG will acquire West Palm Beach radio station The Flame, which will be transferred to the School Board for $1.00, effectively expanding WLRN's reach into the Palm Beaches.
Following the agreement, SFPMG appointed Tom Hudson as Interim CEO, with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and SFPMG coordinating a smooth leadership transition.
Serving more than 330,000 students, Miami-Dade County Public Schools , the third-largest district in the United States, remains focused on protecting resources supporting WLRN's journalism.
