Johnson elected mayor; Grace ousts O’Brien

Former Newkirk City Clerk Kellie Johnson will be the next mayor of Newkirk after receiving 147 votes, 61.5%, to Cody Anderson’s 92 votes, 38.49%, in the April 2 election. In the school board race, challenger Jason Grace defeated incumbent Trevor O’Brien. Grace collected 257 votes, 80.82%, to O’Brien’s 61 votes, 19.18%.
