New Route From Stansted Airport AXED Just Weeks Before Launch
Jet2 is offering affected customers alternative holidays or full refunds after citing unavoidable operational reasons for the route withdrawal.
Jet2 confirmed it is withdrawing all flights and package holidays to La Palma from Manchester and London Stansted, with the Manchester service ending October 30 and the planned Stansted route no longer launching.
Launched just six months ago in April, the Manchester-La Palma route operated twice weekly; Jet2 cited "unavoidable operational reasons" for the cancellation, though it continues its wider Canary Islands network.
Affected Manchester and Stansted passengers will be contacted to choose between a full refund or rebooking to a different destination, as Jet2 apologized for the inconvenience caused by the sudden withdrawal.
Passengers expressed frustration over the cancellations, with some reporting they had already booked accommodation and tours for upcoming trips to La Palma with no direct alternatives now available from Manchester.
Canarian Weekly reports the withdrawal is a "significant setback" for La Palma's tourism industry; meanwhile, TUI continues operating weekly flights from London Gatwick to the island on Thursdays.
An unexpected decision has shaken the tourism industry of one of the popular destinations in the Canary Islands: a newly launched flight will be discontinued after barely six months.
