Jax Leatherwood passed for 212 yards and a touchdown as Tennessee Tech improved to 5-1 and survived a Furman rally.
On Saturday, 15th-ranked Tennessee Tech defeated Furman 20-15 at Tucker Stadium in Cookeville, with kicker Carter Brown connecting on two 52-yard field goals in the fourth quarter.
The Golden Eagles led 14-3 at halftime before Furman rallied in the third quarter; Connor Adams blocked a punt for a safety and Nathan Chapman kicked a 53-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 14-8.
Furman quarterback Connor Ackerley completed 24-of-39 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown, with receiver Luke Shields leading the Paladins with 87 receiving yards and a score.
Following Ackerley's 23-yard touchdown pass to Shields that cut the deficit to 17-15, Brown added a 52-yard field goal with 2:50 left, and Tennessee Tech defender Hudson Tucker sacked Ackerley on the final possession.
Tennessee Tech next hosts Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, while Furman enters a bye week before returning to face Samford on October 24 in a Homecoming contest.
