Rangers Captain James Tavernier 'Storms Out of Ibrox After Bust-up with Danny Rohl'
Rangers said the captain withdrew after learning he would not start, and Danny Rohl said the decision was made to field a team he thought could win.
Captain James Tavernier missed his planned farewell at Ibrox Stadium on Tuesday after being omitted from the Rangers squad to face Hibernian, though he appeared for a pre-match ceremony with Legend John Greig.
Manager Danny Rohl intended to use the defender as a substitute, but Tavernier withdrew from the squad after learning he would not start the match, infuriating the captain who had arranged family attendance.
The 34-year-old right-back has scored 144 goals in 562 appearances since joining in 2015 and announced last month he would depart this summer after 11 years, having won one league title, one Scottish Cup, and one League Cup.
Rangers subsequently lost 2-1 to Hibernian, marking their fourth consecutive league defeat, while Rohl admitted he was "disappointed and angry" with the team's recent form and performance standards.
Uncertainty remains whether the captain will feature in the final league game against Falkirk this Saturday, as Rohl stated he was unsure regarding the defender's availability for the season's closing match.
