Jalen Duren Not on the Detroit Pistons Training Camp Roster
The All-Star center declined a fully guaranteed $200 million offer as the Pistons face a Thursday deadline on his qualifying offer.
- Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren missed media day on Monday as his contract standoff with the franchise stretched into training camp, with a Thursday, Oct. 1 deadline approaching for him to accept a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer.
- Negotiations stalled after Duren rejected a fully guaranteed five-year, $200 million offer while seeking a max extension projected at $287 million; the team recently removed an unwritten weight clause from discussions.
- Coming off a breakout season, Duren, 22, averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds while earning All-Star and All-NBA third team honors, though representatives claim the standoff is "no longer about the money."
- Pistons president Trajan Langdon said he has not spoken to Duren all summer but intends to "welcome him in" whenever he returns, as the team resists sign-and-trade interest from other franchises.
- If no long-term agreement is reached by Thursday, Duren can accept a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer, which would allow him to become an unrestricted free agent in 2027 but poses significant financial risk.
