Jake Allen makes 31 saves as the Devils defeat the Avalanche 4-3
Jake Allen stopped 31 shots and Declan Chisholm scored his first Devils goal as New Jersey recovered from a previous loss.
On Tuesday, the New Jersey Devils defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 at Prudential Center, with goaltender Jake Allen making 31 saves and Declan Chisholm scoring the go-ahead goal midway through the second period.
Following a 3-2 defeat to the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday, Colorado arrived in Newark struggling with energy. Avs coach Jared Bednar said the team looked "slow, unenergetic," marking their second consecutive loss during the road trip.
New Jersey dominated possession early, maintaining a 32-13 shot advantage after 40 minutes. Colorado goalie Scott Wedgewood made 37 saves against his former team, but the Avalanche's defense allowed 40 shots overall.
Avalanche captain Gabe Landeskog said the team needs to "regroup" and "do some soul searching," while defenseman Cale Makar added that "details right now aren't where we want them to be."
The Avalanche will attempt to recover when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday. The Devils prepare to face the Anaheim Ducks at home on Thursday.
