Jaguars Sign Veteran RB Ameer Abdullah Among Roster Moves
On Monday, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran running back Ameer Abdullah while waiving second-year running back Ja'Quinden Jackson to adjust their roster depth.
Entering his 12th NFL season, Abdullah brings 154 career games and more than 4,300 career kickoff return yards across five different clubs since his 2015 draft.
Abdullah joins a young Jacksonville running back group that has combined for only 151 career games and eight starts, alongside Bhayshul Tuten, LeQuint Allen, DeeJay Dallas, Chris Rodriguez Jr., and J'Mari Taylor.
The Jaguars waived Jackson following the strong impression of undrafted free agent J'Mari Taylor, who offers greater utility on passing downs and returner upside the team values.
Abdullah will likely compete for special teams opportunities under coordinator Heath Farwell, reflecting Jacksonville's broader strategy to develop depth through veteran and young talent rotation.
