Britain's Jack Draper Aims for Return in 2027 After Injury-Hit Season
The 24-year-old said a bone bruise has limited him for much of the past 12 months and forced him to withdraw from the U.S. Open.
British tennis player Jack Draper announced on Instagram that he will miss the rest of the 2026 season while recovering from a persistent arm injury, citing a need to "reset and heal."
Bone bruising has derailed Draper's career over the last 12 months, following a series of physical setbacks dating back to last year's Wimbledon. He noted, "Managing so much change, adversity and pain has helped me to grow massively."
Draper last played on August 13 at the Cincinnati Open, having failed to compete in any of the four Grand Slams this year and finishing with an 8-7 record in 2026 singles matches.
Aiming for a 2027 return, Draper is adjusting his serve, racquet weight, and diet to ease physical strain while retaining coach Andy Murray and seeking additional support.
Because Draper has been sidelined for less than six months, he is ineligible for a protected ranking upon return; however, he remains focused on long-term success, stating, "I want to make sure that there's nothing holding me back.
British tennis player Jack Draper, who rose to fourth in the world rankings last summer, has announced that he will have to miss the rest of the season.
