J. Cole becomes a third-league pro basketball player after averaging 2.4 points in five Canadian Elite Basketball League games, ESPN reported.
- On Wednesday, rapper Jermaine Cole signed a professional contract with the Nanjing Monkey Kings of the Chinese Basketball Association, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
- Cole previously competed in the Basketball Africa League with the Rwanda Patriots in 2021 and the Canadian Elite Basketball League with the Scarborough Shooting Stars in 2022.
- With 10 games remaining, the Monkey Kings currently hold an 11-21 record in the CBA and feature former NBA players Tacko Fall, T.J. Leaf, and Jalen Harris.
- In previous league appearances, Cole averaged 2.4 points and 0.6 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game with the Scarborough Shooting Stars, and recorded five points and five rebounds in 45 minutes of action elsewhere.
- The Grammy-Award-winning artist recently released his latest album, "The Fall-Off," in February and holds multiple BET Hip Hop Awards while producing music for artists including Kendrick Lamar and Young Thug.
