A North Island village of just 739 residents raised almost $30,000 to launch the 2026 Tour de Rock on its 1,200-kilometre journey Sunday. Tour de Rock cyclists were welcomed by the community of Port Alice with a Saturday dinner of fresh salmon, white fish and corn, and an evening of laughter, excitement and generosity, as the North Island inlet town demonstrated the tour's spirit of community in flying colours.
