"It seems small but big enough" - Michael Carrick reveals why Kobbie Mainoo is not involved in Manchester United vs Leeds
Michael Carrick said United would not risk the midfielder after a small training issue, with Manuel Ugarte replacing him in the starting XI.
On Monday, Manchester United faced Leeds United at Old Trafford in Premier League Gameweek 32, but star midfielder Kobbie Mainoo was ruled out due to a "minor injury" and did not travel with the squad.
Manuel Ugarte replaced the 20-year-old in midfield, making his first start under manager Michael Carrick after managing just 65 minutes across six substitute appearances previously.
Manager Carrick told Sky Sports that Mainoo "just had an issue in training," adding it was "not worth the risk" to include the midfielder despite the injury appearing small.
Four alterations were made to the starting lineup, with Benjamin Sesko drafted into attack and Lisandro Martinez returning from injury to replace the suspended Harry Maguire in defense.
Victory would extend United's gap over sixth-place Chelsea to 10 points, providing crucial momentum for their bid to secure qualification for next season's Champions League.
