Is the Stock Market Open on Juneteenth? NYSE, Nasdaq Hours Today
The holiday closes U.S. equities and bond trading, with normal market activity set to resume Monday, June 22, officials said.
The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq are closed today, Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth, with the U.S. bond market also shuttered following Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association guidance.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the freedom of over 250,000 enslaved Black Americans; President Joe Biden designated the date a federal holiday in 2021.
Beyond financial trading, the United States Postal Service is closed with no mail delivery and most banks are shuttered, while private shipping companies like FedEx and UPS remain open and operate with normal services.
Trading on Wall Street will remain suspended through the upcoming weekend, with normal activities scheduled to resume at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22.
Markets will operate until early next month, when the next scheduled closure occurs on Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of Independence Day.
