The Syrian authorities announced that shipments of imported gasoline to Iraq had begun to be transported through the port of Banyas, in a move aimed at securing Iraq's energy supply in the face of a traffic disturbance through the Strait of Hormuz. The Syrian news agency, Sanna, reported on the Syrian oil company, that transfers were under a three-month renewable agreement.
The authorities in Iraq and Syria have agreed to designate new routes for oil tankers between the two countries.
