Iowa State’s Killyan Toure Has Successful Shoulder Surgery After Injuring It Working at a Camp
The sophomore guard is expected to return in January after injuring his right shoulder at a camp last week, coach T.J. Otzelberger said.
On Friday, Iowa State sophomore Killyan Toure underwent successful surgery to repair his right shoulder and is expected to return to play in January.
Toure suffered the shoulder injury last week while working as one of 15 college counselors at NBA All-Star Damian Lillard's Formula Zero Elite Camp in Salt Lake City.
A 6-foot-3 guard from France, Toure started all 37 games last season, tying the school record for freshman starts while averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
With Toure sidelined, Iowa State has Bradley transfer Jaquan Johnson as a potential point guard replacement; Johnson averaged 16.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.5 steals per game last season.
Cyclones head coach T.J. Otzelberger called the injury an "unfortunate setback" and noted the team's focus on recovery before the November 2 season opener against Memphis in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
