4-Star Forward Donovan Davis Commits to Iowa State Basketball
The 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward gives Iowa State another top-100 prospect as the Cyclones secure their first No. 1 recruiting class.
On Wednesday, Freedom High School junior Donovan Davis committed to Iowa State University, selecting the Cyclones over finalists Wisconsin Badgers, Marquette Golden Eagles, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and University of Iowa.
Davis described the recruiting process as "pretty hard" due to his respect for the competing programs, but ultimately chose Iowa State for the comfortability and relationship he developed with the coaching staff.
Ranked as the No. 38 recruit nationally in the class of 2027 by 247 Sports Composite, Davis is the first Division I basketball commit from Freedom High School since 1990.
Under Milwaukee native and head coach T.J. Otzelberger, the Cyclones continue building a successful Wisconsin pipeline, with Davis joining a 2027 class that already features fellow four-star prospect Josiah Harrington.
Following a 29-8 record in the 2025-26 season, this addition positions the Cyclones for sustained success, building on their three Sweet 16 appearances in the last five years.
