Mount Anak Krakatau's Status Has Been Lowered to Alert, but a 2-Kilometer Radius Remains Off-Limits.
The activity status of Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait was lowered from Level III Alert to Level II Warning starting September 21, 2026.|The status was lowered after eruptive activity and a number of monitoring parameters showed a decreasing trend until September 20, 2026.|Despite the lowered status, the public and tourists are still prohibited from entering a 2-kilometer radius from the center of Mount Anak Krakatau's activity.
The Geological Agency urges residents around Mount Anak Krakatau and visitors not to enter or carry out activities within a 2 km radius of the volcano's center of activity.
The status of Anak Krakatau has been lowered from Alert to Warning after activity decreased. A 2 km radius from the epicenter remains off-limits.
