UNESCO approved the Indonesian government's proposal through the Ministry of Culture to include Reog Ponorogo as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTb). This decision was taken through the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Paraguay on 3 December 2024.
Reog Ponorogo has been officially included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, in the category “In Need of Urgent Safeguarding”.
Indonesia welcomes the imminent inscription of three emblematic cultural elements: Kebaya, Reog Ponorogo and Kolintang, on the UNESCO Intang Cultural Heritage List.
