- Search teams recovered a backpack and rifle near the Hayes River on Aug. 21, while GPS coordinates placed Skjottelvik on the east shore of the Hayes River on Aug. 14; crews used drones, boats and helicopters in the search.
- Community donations and overseas fundraisers have financed further search efforts, with Fort Severn First Nation pausing helicopter searches on Tuesday before donations restored flights and two Norwegian fundraisers raising nearly $1 million Norwegian kroner .
- First Nations communities immediately leapt into action, leading search efforts and urging the Canadian federal government to reimburse costs and mobilize resources, said Angus Miles on Wednesday.
