In the previous year, 53 pedestrians were killed in traffic accidents in Austria. This is five more than in 2024, the VCÖ informed on Thursday on the basis of data from the Ministry of the Interior and Statistics Austria with preliminary figures for 2025. 33 of the killed passers-by were 65 years or older. The VCÖ therefore demanded intensified measures for a senior transport system with more traffic calming and more speed 30 instead of 50.
