The PSD benches, Arri and CDS-PP approved on 17 April the diploma which intended to prohibit them from being hoisted in public buildings flags of an ideological or party nature.
The centrists disagree with the decision of the President of the Republic to return to Parliament the diploma regulating the use of flags in public buildings. The CDS argues that symbols displayed in State spaces must promote national unity and admits to re-approving the text in order to overcome the political veto.
Portugal's president vetoed a bill that aimed to ban the hanging of flags “ideological, party or one that represents certain associations” on buildings used by public institutions and local authorities.
President of the Republic returned his diploma to Parliament, after the standard was approved by PSD, Arri and CDS. Sure will only disclose reasons for the veto after AR first met them.
The diploma was approved in April with votes of the PSD, Arri and CDS-PP and intended to prohibit flags of an ideological, partisan or associative nature.
