Nigeria: Tight Security As El-Rufai Appears in Court Over Alleged Money Laundering
El-Rufai faces multiple corruption charges including money laundering and abuse of office in two separate cases filed by the ICPC on March 18, 2026.
- On Tuesday, the ICPC will arraign Malam Nasir El-Rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, and Joel Adoga at the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Kaduna Judicial Division.
- On 18th March 2026, the ICPC filed case number FHC/KD/73/2026, alleging public property conversion, money laundering, abuse of office, fraud, and conferring undue advantage.
- Earlier this year, the EFCC questioned Malam Nasir El-Rufai for 48 hours before transferring him to ICPC custody, which also filed a case at Kaduna State High Court naming him and Amadu Sule under KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26.
- The ICPC confirmed that El-Rufai has been duly served and emphasized adherence to due process in a notice signed by John Okor Odey on Monday.
- The Kaduna State High Court will communicate the date for El-Rufai's arraignment, the ICPC said, once it is determined by the court.
