Iconic English tree cut down and no one knows who did it

The tree stood next to Hadrian's Wall in Sycamore Gap and became famous when it appeared in the 1991 movie “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” with Kevin Costner. The police have launched an investigation and speak of “an intentional act of vandalism”.
