'I Love that Challenge': Hamilton Prays for Rain in Singapore
Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari driver, arrived at the Singapore Grand Prix on Thursday hoping for rain to replicate his masterclass performance in Malaysia, where he climbed from 18th to third.
Last week's Malaysia race suffered a 53-minute delay after a software bug linked to the 50-50 combustion-battery power split left cars unable to power up on the formation lap.
The FIA revealed on Thursday that the software bug was at fault, planning to reinstate the Sepang configuration for Singapore. Further wet-weather updates are scheduled for the United States Grand Prix on October 25.
Lamenting modern caution, Hamilton argued the sport has diminished "seat of your pants" wet-weather driving. "Wet-weather races aren't the same as we used to have, for sure," he said in Singapore.
Forecasts suggest rain could influence both Saturday's sprint and Sunday's grand prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The expanded sprint calendar leaves only a single Friday practice session for teams to dial in setups.
Racing with rain has been rare in Formula 1 in recent times. The International Automobile Federation often postpones the releases, as happened last weekend in Bahrain's GP, or d&aac
