Hyundai opens IONIQ 3 EV orders, starting at about $30,000
Hyundai says the compact EV uses a 400V system and will reach showrooms in late September, with 30,000 units planned a year in Turkey.
- On Monday, Hyundai opened orders for the IONIQ 3, its new entry-level electric hatch in the UK, with pricing starting at about $30,000.
- Manufacturing of the IONIQ 3 began last Friday at the Izmit plant in Turkey, where the facility will initially produce 30,000 vehicles annually.
- The Pleos Connect infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS powers the vehicle, while the "Aero Hatch" design "reimagines the compact EV silhouette," Hyundai said, achieving a 0.263 drag coefficient.
- While the IONIQ 3 targets Europe, Hyundai offers the IONIQ 5 in the US starting at $35,000, and sister company Kia announced last week that its 2027 EV3 starts at $29,890.
- Showroom arrivals are expected in late September following what Hyundai called "the highest-ever level of customer interest" for a new model, with production of the next-generation BAYON and i20 beginning next year.
