Because they can even bite through broom stalks with their jaws, there is a nationwide ban on keeping vulture turtles. Workers have now found a huge specimen underground in northern Germany.

Twelve kilograms heavy is the vulture tortoise, which sewer workers discovered during a shaft cleaning in northern Germany. The animal species from the USA is dangerous – the police admonish for caution. "Gabi" got a new one at home.

Strange finds are not so rare in canal work. But what the workers find in such an action in Kellinghusen chases them shiver over the back. In mud and garbage a vulture tortoise hides and with them is not to be fun.
