How to get a code for a free ride from Lyft on New Year’s Eve
WRAP and Lyft provide free rides on New Year’s Eve to reduce impaired driving, with over 2,200 users in D.C. last year benefiting from the program, officials said.
- Washington Regional Alcohol Program partnered with Lyft, rideshare company to offer free New Year's Eve rides in the DMV to reduce drunk driving on Dec. 31.
- To reduce drunk driving, WRAP says over 2,200 riders celebrating with alcohol in the D.C. area used the program last December as a free responsible option home.
- Download the Lyft app and enter the SoberRide promo code in the payment tab to redeem the free ride; riders pay any balance if the trip exceeds the promo value.
- WRAP's long-running program has served over 99,000 riders since 1991, and Kurt Erickson, WRAP president, said it will eclipse 100,000 users, removing 100,000 potential drunk drivers.
- The first code is already live on WRAP website and a second code will post at 9 p.m. Wednesday; codes are valid between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
