When Luís Montenegro was elected to hold the post he now holds, he promised that he would unite the country and in fact I think he fulfilled that promise. Today the country is united against this law, against this aggression against Portuguese society, said José Manuel Pureza, who spoke to journalists in Batalha Square, in Porto, at the start of the march for the housing that runs this afternoon to D. João I Square.
Thousands of people participated in a protest march in the Portuguese city of Porto today, demanding more affordable housing and saying they will not give up the fight for the right to a home.
José Manuel Pureza wanted to emphasize that "the demonstrations have occurred without violence", stressing that "what was violent was the government's response".
The coordinator of the Left Block ironized today, in Porto, at the start of the march for housing, that the Prime Minister fulfilled the promise to unite the country, because the Portuguese are united today against a law that attacks society.
