Police Establish Crime Scene After Body Found in Northern NSW Stockyard
Police said the deceased’s identity and sex remain unknown as forensic and post-mortem examinations continue this week.
NSW Police discovered a body partially submerged in a livestock dip at a farm in Terragon on Monday, about 20 kilometres south of Murwillumbah in northern NSW.
The discovery occurred about 11:20am in a stockyard on Kyogle Road, where a livestock dip—a facility designed to submerge cattle to treat parasites like ticks—was the location of the find.
Forensic teams have preserved the scene for specialist examination to determine the cause of death. Police stated, "The sex of the deceased is unknown" as investigations continue.
Officers from the Tweed/Byron Police District recovered the body Tuesday morning as a crime scene was established at the property. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for later this week.
Investigators are urging the public to assist with the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
