Portugal Records Biggest EU Rise in House Prices in Second Quarter

Compared to the previous quarter, house prices rose 4.0% in the euro area and 4.7% in the European Union (EU) between January and March.
Although prices continue to climb to two digits, there was a slight slowdown in the first two quarters of this year.
According to the European statistical service, in comparison to the previous quarter, house prices rose 4.0% in the euro area and 4.7% in the European Union (EU) between January and March.
The highest increase was recorded in Portugal (16.5%), followed by Bulgaria (15.5%) and Lithuania (14.3%) and the only declines were in Finland (-2.7%), Luxembourg (-2.8%) and France (-0.8%).
Portugal sees the largest rise in house prices in the EU
House prices rose by 1.1% in the Eurozone and 1.2% in the European Union in the second quarter compared to the same period last year, with Portugal recording the largest increase among Member States (16.5%), according to Eurostat.
