Historic Bluefield gay nightclub demolished; artifacts preserved in local museum

The Shamrock was opened in 1964 by owner Helen Compton. The club was said to be a safe place for gay men and women to socialize. The building is being torn down. The community can still see a glimpse of the Shamrock in the One Thin Dime Museum.
