In the future, North German municipalities, tourism associations and Deutsche Bahn want to renounce the name Hindenburgdamm for the famous railway connection between the island of Sylt and the mainland.
The "Hindenburgdamm" is on everyone's lips, but that's all. Officially, the land connection for the train to Sylt never bore this name, but it's usually called that. Germany's northernmost island is now taking a completely new path.
Almost 100 years old is the famous Hindenburgdamm, which connects Sylt with the mainland. After long debates it is now renamed: The route is to be called "Syltdamm". However, not by train.
