Central Europe swelters and Slovakia and Austria hit their record high temperatures
Both countries logged all-time highs as the heatwave pushed temperatures above 41 C and deepened drought across central Europe, weather agencies said.

Temperatures in Central Europe have soared to extreme levels again, with Slovakia and Austria both having their hottest day on record.
Austria has set a new absolute temperature record for the second day in a row amid a heatwave. In the east of the country, Bad Deutsch-Altenburg recorded 41.2 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, the Geosphere Austria meteorological service reported. A heat record was also set in Slovakia today, with 41.4 degrees Celsius recorded.
