Herbal supplement sold on Amazon, at Whole Foods recalled amid salmonella concerns
The recall covers one lot sold online and in 30 states after routine testing found a possible salmonella contamination, officials said.
On Friday, the Food and Drug Administration announced that Vitality Works Inc. is recalling Whole Foods Market ashwagandha capsules due to potential Salmonella contamination.
The recall covers 120-count bottles of Standardized and Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha with lot number 2025-26227 and expiration date Oct 13, 2028, FDA officials said.
These products, identified by UPC 9948252099, were sold online via Amazon and at Whole Foods Market stores in 30 states and the District of Columbia from Nov 24, 2025, through Oct 20, 2026.
Although no illnesses have been reported, Salmonella infection can cause fever, diarrhea, and vomiting, posing serious risks to vulnerable populations.
Customers should immediately stop taking the capsules and throw them away rather than returning them to a store.
