Heavy rainfall and snowmelt trigger flood watch in Maine

Heavy rain combined with snowmelt could cause some flash flooding through Friday morning. Rain began falling Wednesday evening across Maine and many areas have from 1/2 inch of rain to almost an inch already Thursday morning. Without breaks in the rain the ground and storm sewers don't have time to catch up.

As heavy rain persists throughout the evening and into Friday, much of Maine is under a flood watch following an intense spring storm that dumped more than a foot of snow across the state.
