Dallas Morning News Enacts Layoffs Following Hearst Buyout

Hearst eliminates 26 jobs including the entire copy desk, outsourcing print production despite union claims of contract violations limiting layoffs to 20 employees.

Dallas Morning News confirmed plans to outsource its print page design operations in March 2026. The newspaper also said it plans to creae 18 news roles. Dallas News Guild, the union representing newsroom employees, said the move by Hearst, which bought the paper in September, violates a clause in the existing collective bargaining agreement.
