Dave Bautista Gains 20 Pounds of Muscle for 'God of War' Role
Bautista says he has reached 250 pounds as the series moves ahead with a two-season order and no premiere date announced.
On Sunday, Dave Bautista shared an update on his preparations for Prime Video's God of War series, revealing he has gained 20 pounds of muscle to reach 250 pounds. "Gained 20 lbs for GOW," Bautista said.
Ryan Hurst exited the production due to a bicep injury sustained on set, prompting the shift to Bautista in August and necessitating a complete recast of the lead character.
Having weighed around 315 pounds for Knock at the Cabin, Bautista previously focused on weight loss before resuming intense weight training to achieve the physical requirements for Kratos.
Showrunner Ronald D. Moore leads the God of War adaptation, which features Callum Vinson as Atreus and is directed by Frederick E.O. Toye for the first two episodes.
Expanding his Hollywood career, Bautista secured roles in Road House 2 and Highlander, both of which are expected to arrive in the coming years.
