HBO's Harry Potter Casts The Weasley Brother Cut From the Films, Along With James & Lily
The series adds the Potter parents and Charlie Weasley, expanding the cast around the opening events that set the saga in motion.
- On Tuesday, HBO announced Domina actress Hannah Chinn and Broadchurch alum Jasper Talbot as Lily and James Potter for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone series. Harry Gilby joins as Charlie Weasley.
- Chinn and Talbot portray the titular wizard's late parents, whose story shapes Harry Potter's journey despite being killed at the start of Philosopher's Stone. The inaugural season premieres on Christmas.
- Gilby, known for The Last Kingdom and Boarders, plays dragonologist Charlie Weasley, a character who works in Romania and did not appear in the Harry Potter films.
- Including Charlie Weasley marks a departure from the films, where the character did not appear. The series expands beyond cinematic adaptations of Rowling's fantasy novels.
- Filming for the second season, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, is underway at Leavesden Studios outside London. Game of Thrones star Kit Harington joins as Gilderoy Lockhart.
