Harry Styles fans warned as ticket scams leave victims £1,295 out of pocket
Monzo said many victims are turned away at venues and lose extra money on travel, hotels and bookings, pushing average losses to £1,295.
Monzo research reveals that ticket scam victims lose an average of £1,295 when factoring in related expenses like travel and accommodation, with fraudsters increasingly using AI-powered tactics to deceive fans.
Reported losses from ticket fraud surged 47% to £9.8 million in 2024, as Action Fraud data shows researchers found 28% of victims were pressured by limited-time offers into making rapid decisions.
Among victims scammed via social media, 42% were convinced by AI-powered images and voice notes, while 30% only realized they were defrauded upon arriving at the venue.
Rich Bromley, Director of Fraud at Monzo, warned that victims lose far more than ticket money, noting fraudsters exploit the emotional significance these events hold for fans.
For summer concerts like Harry Styles at Wembley Stadium, Gilad Zilberman, CEO of SeatPick, suggests solo concertgoers may find more ticket options; experts recommend using only official platforms.
