One rape, 21 detentions and hundreds of crimes: the security record of the Bayonne Jambon Fair raises questions

The Bayonne Ham Fair ended this Sunday, April 13th on a contrasting balance sheet. Either, the public responded to the call with a nice attendance but troubles to public order were observed. The elected ones are thinking about solutions.

A man was arrested on Saturday on charges of raping a woman on Thursday night. The man is in custody until the case is resolved. Itaia held a demonstration on Monday at 6:30 pm at the Bayonne Town Hall, and stressed responsibility for this.

The prefecture of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the prosecutor of the Republic of Bayonne communicated this Monday, 14 April, the "security" balance sheet of the 562nd fair of ham of Bayonne which took place from 10 to 14 April 2025.
