Darian Mensah, Mark Fletcher Jr. Lead Unbeaten No. 4 Miami Past Clemson 41-13
Darian Mensah threw for 227 yards and a touchdown as Miami improved to 5-0 and Clemson committed 10 penalties for 91 yards.
On Saturday night at Memorial Stadium, the Miami Hurricanes routed the Clemson Tigers 41-13, securing sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Quarterback Darian Mensah threw for 227 yards and a 34-yard scoring run, while Miami's defense sacked freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds six times and held Clemson to 55 rushing yards.
Mark Fletcher Jr. rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns, Cooper Barkate caught five passes for 98 yards including a 66-yard touchdown, and JJ Dunnigan returned a Reynolds interception 39 yards for a score.
Clemson committed 10 penalties for 91 yards and struggled to protect Reynolds, whose 295 passing yards could not overcome Miami's defensive pressure in the Tigers' fourth-worst loss under coach Dabo Swinney.
Both programs enter a bye week before returning October 17, when Miami hosts Florida State and Clemson hosts Charleston Southern.
