Haiti registers 7 presidential candidates, hundreds for parliament, CEP says
The candidates registered so far come from 30 accredited political organizations — 18 stand-alone political parties and 12 political coalitions — that have submitted lists of at least 30,000 affiliate members or supporters required to reach the candidate-submission stage.
At least nine candidates are registered so far on the platform of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to compete for the presidency of Haiti, although none of them can still be considered a fully approved candidate.Among them stands Claude Joseph, former prime minister and former chancellor who has held one of the most confrontational positions of Haitian politics vis-à-vis the Dominican Republic over recent years.
