Many branches of the East German store chain Groschen Markt and 80 jobs are taken over by retailers. One of them even keeps the brand name alive in Thuringia.

Following the bankruptcy of the German retail chain Groschen Markt, buyers have been found for some of its stores. According to the German news agency dpa, 22 of the 41 stores will continue operations, although most will change their names.
Even discounters get to feel the current buying restraint. Therefore, the chain Groschen Markt, which is spread in East Germany, closes almost 20 branches.
The insolvent discount chain Groschen Markt can save 22 of its 41 branches. However, for most locations there is a new operator and name.
