UNDP and TAILG Sign MOU for a Green, Low-Carbon Mobility Project to Advance Sustainable Development in Africa and Beyond
UNDP and TAILG will jointly develop a center and launch Green Ride Africa to expand low-carbon transport and support sustainable development goals.
- On Friday, the United Nations Development Programme and electric mobility company TAILG signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Nairobi, Kenya, establishing the Green Mobility Centre of Excellence and launching the "Green Ride Africa" initiative.
- Building on the UNDP's African Electric Mobility Pilot Project, the partnership integrates global resources with TAILG's electric vehicle technology to address Africa's low-carbon transition and promote the shift from gasoline to electric power.
- With an annual production capacity exceeding 15 million units across seven manufacturing bases, TAILG leverages strategic partner Sunwoda Depower Energy to support battery recycling, smart charging infrastructure, and full-lifecycle management.
- The parties will establish a cooperation system centered on strategic guidance and innovation incubation, including a green mobility innovation challenge. TAILG President Michael Yao stated, "This strategic partnership with UNDP marks an important milestone in TAILG's high-quality global development."
- By leveraging clean energy, the initiative supports regional Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and improve community mobility. Jean-Luc Stalon, Resident Representative of UNDP Kenya, joined TAILG leadership to formalize the long-term commitment.
