Government promises relief at the light of day, but experts have doubts about the proposal.

The idea is to use the funds created by the privatization of the state-owned company to pay loans taken by electricity distributors during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and the drought that lowered the hydroelectric reservoirs between 2021 and 2022. These loans, coordinated by BNDES and granted by several banks, have their costs passed on to consumers, on their electricity bills.
