Google to Invest $15B in Missouri Data Center, Largest Single ...

Google said the project will add more than 2,300 construction training slots and a $20 million energy fund for Missouri households.

  • On Wednesday, Google announced a $15 billion investment to build a data center in New Florence, Montgomery County, creating thousands of jobs and bolstering local infrastructure.
  • Under Missouri's Senate Bill 4, signed into law in 2025, Google must pay for 100% of the power the data center uses and infrastructure costs directly driven by its operations.
  • Google also launched a $20 million Energy Impact Fund to reduce monthly utility bills for households in Montgomery, Clay, and Platte counties. Carla Potts, Deputy Director of Housing Development Programs at NECAC, said the organization is "very excited to partner with Google" on energy efficiency.
  • While the project promises to train more than 2,300 construction laborers over two years, cattle rancher Bill Dryer, whose family worked local land for 60 years, expressed concern about the impact on natural resources.
  • Expanding beyond Montgomery County, Google is supporting a workforce development facility and STEAM programs in Kansas City. The two planned data centers will cover nearly 2,000 acres, roughly the size of 70 Busch Stadiums.
